Energy Career Path, 2020, and Priorities

First off, I want to give a big thanks for your support in 2019.   It had been a very busy year in 2019 and life as it is, caused many shifts in priorities, both personally and professionally.

SAFETY

As an OSHA instructor, I am well aware of how much more safety there is out there that needs to be taught.  My goal is to ensure that the organization continues its growth in the world of safety.  With that said, Energy Career Path will be expanding its offerings to include Hazwoper and Confined Spaces.   This means that ECP will take a deep dive into understanding the elements of the associated training and will provide content to support it here.

OFF-GRID

Several years ago, I had a conversation with one of my mentors, Brian Hurd (of Hands On Solar) about off-grid solutions.  At one point, we discussed creating an emergency solution, but unfortunately, we never got around to making that happen.  However, I've recently connected "callings" with a dear friend of mine and will be going back down that path again.  So look forward to hearing more on off-grid (and in this case, agricultural) solutions and finally get to help Brian realize a shared goal.

ENERGY-RELATED STOCKS

When I was teaching at the colleges, I spent a lot of time trying to keep up with the renewables, sometimes even to the depth of stock analysis (see Solar M.I.S.T).   (I later discovered that the app I used to create the MIST charts continues to update.  So future analysis will not have live charts.)  When I think back to those days, I can say with a smile those were some of the more interesting days during my growth within the solar industry.  I really enjoyed it.  So lookout for more stock charts.  This is part of the refocus for 2020.

ENERGY CAREER PATH

As with all content, I will be helping with career guidance.  Nothing has changed on that front.  I've been simply applying it to existing students at various organizations I teach for.   I will redirect some of the guidance to land on the ECP sites.  In the meantime, I've brought back an article for more thoughts on staying in tune with the industry.  Check out Pay Attention To Your Industry   Wow! the reference to what will become common equipment (AC modules), the pre-Chinese module saturation clues and just a great reminder that solar will be here for a long time.

Until the next post!
~Michael
